Perimenopause and Menopause Mental Health
When You Don’t Quite Feel Like Yourself
Perimenopause and menopause can bring changes that affect how you feel, think and move through everyday life. You may notice shifts in your mood, feel more anxious or irritable, struggle with sleep or find it harder to concentrate. Alongside physical symptoms, these experiences can leave you feeling unsettled, overwhelmed or less like yourself.
This stage of life may also coincide with demanding work, caring responsibilities, relationship changes or questions about your identity and what comes next. Everyone’s experience is different. Whether you are finding the changes difficult to understand or simply need space to talk, your concerns deserve to be heard and taken seriously.
Support Through Change
At Moving Forward, psychological support offers room to explore how this transition is affecting you. We can work with you to understand changes in your emotional wellbeing, manage worry and self-criticism, and develop practical ways to respond when life feels harder to navigate. Your experience and priorities guide the focus of therapy.
Sessions may include support with stress, sleep-related worries, confidence, body image or changes in relationships and intimacy. We can also explore boundaries, communicating your needs and adjusting expectations of yourself. Psychological care can complement support from your GP or menopause clinician, who can assess symptoms and discuss medical treatment options.
You do not have to take every change in your stride or work through it all on your own. Our team can offer understanding and support as you find ways to care for yourself through this stage of life.
