Clinical Supervision

We really enjoy working with other Psychologists and offer supervision for ongoing professional development / peer supervision, as well as supervision for endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist / supervision through the registrar program. We are AHPRA certified supervisors of the 6+2 training pathway. Our practice also runs a monthly peer supervision group – this group includes a combination of different mental health disciplines.

Hi! I have been in private practice for around 20 years and am familiar with all apsects of owning and running a small group practice.

I also work one day per week as a university clinic supervisor of students in the 5+1 and 6+2 postgraduate clinical training programs.

I work mostly with adults – mainly with complex trauma and a variety of mental health presentations. I am experienced with Medicare/Mental Health Care Plans, Workers Compensation, CTP, and Victims Services schemes, and enjoy having variety in my clinical work.

I have previously worked for 8 years in a public inpatient mental health unit, and prior to that in community adult mental health. I have also worked in child and adolescent community mental health, and in university settings focussing on child behaviour problems, parenting and family systems work, and with children and adolescents with anxiety conditions. I am an accredited Cool Kids facilitator.

I work from a multi-model perspective – drawing mainly from compassion-focussed CBT, DBT, ACT, Schema and EMDR.

In my spare time I am a Vinyasa Yoga teacher and have an interest in applying somatic approaches and mindfulness skills to my clinical work.

I love providing supportive and insightful supervision, and am looking to work more in this space.

If I sound like a good fit for you, I’d love to hear from you!

Janene England

I’ve been practicing as a Clinical Psychologist since 2006 and currently work in a well-established, small private practice. I’ve worked predominantly in adult mental health and have more than 16 years of experience working in inpatient facilities. I provide treatment to individuals presenting with a range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, bereavement, adjustment difficulties, psychosis, and personality disorder. I have a particular interest in eating disorders and OCD.

In terms of my therapeutic approach, I have an affinity for compassionate-focused CBT and ACT. I’ve completed training in these evidence-based therapies, as well as in DBT, CBT-E, Maudsley Family Based Therapy for Eating Disorders, and the “Cool Kids” Anxiety Treatment Program to become an accredited facilitator. I’m a member of ACPA and an AHPRA accredited supervisor of Post-Graduate Psychology and Clinical Psychology Registrar training programs.

I’ve provided clinical supervision to provisional psychologists, new graduates and more experienced psychologists since 2014 and have recently supervised at the University of Newcastle Psychology Clinic. With my supervisees, I aim to build a relationship which will foster skill development, self-reflection, and a healthy self-confidence. Self-care is something I value, as I know this work can be tough! I endeavour to provide a safe and supportive space where the demands of our work can be acknowledged.

Please feel welcome to contact me to discuss your supervision needs and to see if we might work well together janene@movingforward.net.au.
