Ever wondered about effective treatments for trauma?
Numerous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of EMDR in treating trauma.
EMDR has been recognized by several health organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the World Health Organization, as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD.
Here’s a short clip about EMDR here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNN1lQ-AHoo
On top of her 8 years of training to become a Clinical Psychologist over 20 years ago, Alex Corcoran has undertaken over 50 hours of additional training and supervision to become an EMDR therapist. She is a member of the Australian Association for EMDR and a passionate advocate for this therapy approach.
Alex recognises that EMDR is not suitable for all clients, and she is trained in a variety of other approaches too. Whilst EMDR looks simple, there are many important procedural steps and considerations that are taken into account when selecting a suitable treatment approach for an individual.
EMDR is endorsed by many international bodies including
World Health Organisation (2013)
Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health (2007)
The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (2009)
National Health and Medical Research Council (2007)
American Psychiatric Association (2004)
US Department of Veterans Affairs (2004)
Israel National Council for Mental Health (2002)
Clinical Division of the American Psychological Association (1998)
