Clinical Supervision Services

Clinical Supervision Services for GPs

At Moving Forward, some of our work involves providing clinical supervision to other AHPRA registered health professionals. Whilst we primarily offer Board Approved Supervision to Psychologists, we do also provide supervision to other disciplines, including mental health nurses and social workers who are working as therapists.

As increasing numbers of GPs provide Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS) under the Better Access initiative, we recognise the growing demand for support, reflection, and ongoing skill development in this area. We would love to offer clinical supervision for interested GPs delivering FPS, provided by an endorsed Clinical Psychologist with experience in primary care and evidence-based psychological therapies.

What supervision can offer
Clinical supervision provides a structured space to:

  • Discuss complex or challenging presentations (e.g. comorbid mental health conditions)
  • Strengthen confidence in delivering structured interventions such as CBT, behavioural activation, and motivational interviewing
  • Enhance formulation and treatment planning skills within time-limited GP consultations
  • Reflect on therapeutic process, boundaries, and risk management
  • Support ongoing professional development and maintain best practice standards

Who this is for
This service is suitable for:

  • GPs currently providing FPS and seeking to refine their skills
  • GPs newly trained in mental health who would benefit from additional support
  • Practitioners managing patients with more complex or persistent presentations

Format and flexibility
Supervision can be tailored to your needs, including:

  • One-on-one supervision
  • In-person or via telehealth
  • Case-based discussions and skills-focused sessions

Why consider supervision?
While FPS training provides a strong foundation, ongoing supervision can help bridge the gap between theory and real-world application—particularly within the constraints of general practice. It also supports reflective practice and clinician wellbeing when working with emotionally demanding cases. Tax invoices are issued for claiming a tax deduction.

If you are interested in accessing supervision, or would like to discuss whether this would be a good fit for your practice, please feel free to get in touch.
